Research Fellowship Program

Research Fellowship Program

Introduction

Research, Innovation, Consultancy, Entrepreneurship, Product Development etc., are the key parameters of academic progress and growth, and IRDO is committed towards ensuring a creative atmosphere for the students to take up such activities in emerging areas of engineering and technology. The core lies in innovation and that comes from new ideas that very often emanate from collaborative initiatives.

The Research Fellowship Program Initiated by ISNEE Research and Development Organization (IRDO), has been designed to offer a research platform to engineering students where they can work together to design the solution for certain issues highlighted by the research subject of IRDO. With vast potential and scope, the program seeks to attract the best talent into research thereby realizing the vision of development through innovation.

This research program aims to provide the students with practical exposure that broadens their imagination, to explore and establish links between academics and industry. Also, it aims to assist the participants in developing and carrying out major research projects. This 12-month project is powered by ISNEE MOTORSPORTS in the form of a national-level exposition.

We aim to

  • To cultivate academic and research collaborations with national and international universities, government and industries, to meet the immediate needs of society and the industry.
  • To provide a holistic enabling environment for potential researchers & entrepreneurs and graduating students so as to translate the knowledge and innovation into creation of successful products.
  • To establish centres of Excellence and secure international recognitions in niche domains of Science and Technology.
  • To inculcate the spirit and culture of research amongst all the stakeholders like students, faculties, management, parents and industries.
  • To enhance interaction and cooperation between researchers and stake holders, for undertaking interdisciplinary and Multi-disciplinary project activities.
  • To establish links with various R&D organizations and funding agencies or venture capitalist for pursuing sponsored and contract research projects.
  • Support the development of the auto industry workforce through fellowship opportunities for graduate and postgraduate students hence their professional development.
  • Emphasize the critical need to provide leading-edge training and learning opportunities for students. These investments include support for experimental learning opportunities, student training, curriculum development, and development of methods to improve the recruitment and retention of students.

Stages of the program

This program is divided into 10 stages described as follows:

1- Registration- Registrations for 60 slots are done under this phase on first come first served basis with no reservation quota.

    • Registration Frequency- Registrations are scheduled to be done after every six months i.e. July and January.

2- Registration Fee- ₹15,900/- (Excluding 18% GST).

3- Workshop/Training- From a learning point of view, this program offers 4 intensive yet free workshops/webinars for the registrants.

    • Workshop/Webinar Basics of Automotive Technologies
    • Workshop/Webinar Vehicle Dynamics
    • Workshop/Webinar on the EV
    • Workshop/Webinar on Vehicle Design

4- Project Synopsis- Under this phase, teams need to submit the project synopsis for the purpose of Research Fellowship Program. This must be done in strict compliance to the synopsis format available on EMS.

5- Project Timeline- Project timeline tracks the chronological order of events. These timelines give teams an understanding of a project at just a glance, keeping everyone informed and aligned at every stage of the project. The timeline is composed of a series of tasks, each of which has a due date and duration. Teams need to submit a Gantt Chart that illustrates the project schedule.

6- R&D- Research and development (R&D) includes activities that teams undertake to innovate and introduce the vehicle for the Research Fellowship Program. It is often the first stage in the development process. Maximum time of three months is given to the teams for research, development, testing and validation of ideas to be implemented on the vehicle. This includes the study of relevant technical documentation and various similar vehicles existing in the market.

7- Doucment Submission- In this phase, teams need to submit various reports and documents including:

    • Cost Report
    • Engineering Design Report
    • Other Supporting Documents

Note- Cost and Design Reports must be submitted in accordance to the format available on EMS

8- Design Review- Assessment is done to postulate the much-required review on the work done, reports, cost, and utility of the innovations. A pre-assigned group of technical experts from the EV industry examines the reports and suggests teams the potential changes to be made before vehicle’s manufacturing. This includes the online presentation and interview of the team members.

9- Vehicle Manufacturing- This phase comes after six months from the date of enrolment wherein; teams start manufacturing the vehicle. The fabrication work must be completed within the time period of 4 months.

10- Exposition- Finally, all the registered institutions are invited to an expo where they showcase the re-innovated/upgraded vehicles. They also receive the certificate of excellence, certificate of participation, certificate of appreciation, awards, trophies, etc. according to their performance. This all is done based on the evaluation of their vehicles, reports and interviews, and interactions.
